Harvest Festival - Garibaldi

Come along to the Harvest Festival at Garibaldi Hall on Sunday 29 January from 10am to 2pm.

Multicultural Harvest Festival Australia is a day to show appreciation to food producers and celebrate the connection to the land of Australia"

Neil Para, a Ballarat local, having known the joy of celebrating Thaipongal with his family in Sri Lanka- a festival to express gratitude to local farmers and to nature for providing abundance- wishes now to bring that celebration here. His wish is to celebrate the many communities that contribute to Australian agriculture and sustaining nature.

Thaipongal is celebrated in Sri Lanka, India, Singapore, Malaysia, and many other countries where Tamils live. In Sri Lanka, this is a day to celebrate and show thanks to our farmers and to nature. This festival will give us an opportunity to share knowledge from a variety of cultures in relation to food production and sustainable practices.
