Shape the LEAD - Council's Young Women's Leadership Program

Shape the Lead

About:

Council is set to deliver the LEAD: Young Women's Leadership Program for young women aged 12 to 25 years from across the Shire.

The program will see the delivery of two concurrent Young Women’s Leadership programs tailored towards two age cohorts; young women between 14 to 16; and young women between 17 and 25, to ensure content is designed to meet the different needs and interests of women in each age group.

The programs aim to assist young women to develop a strong and healthy sense of self that allows them to be and act in a way they value within the world and respond to barriers and challenges with strong identify and self-worth.

Young women who take part in the program will learn to identify how they can best cultivate healthy, happy lives, develop and achieve goals, and influence confidently and authentically.

Sessions will be facilitated by Council’s Youth Development Officer, Women’s Health Grampians & various guest speakers.

The Young Women’s Leadership program is supported by a $39,500 grant from VicHealth, which was secured to deliver a number of Council programs for young people in the Shire.

Engagement Update:

The survey was open to eligible community members from 25 October to  21 November, 2022.

During this time, Council sought input from women aged 17 to 25 years of age to help shape the Young Women’s Leadership Program.

Young women between 17 and 25 years of age were invited to complete a short survey to provide valuable insights that will be used to finalise the Young Women’s Leadership Program for the age cohort of survey recipients.

What Happens Next:

Survey responses will help guide the way in which the program is delivered, the content that is delivered and the guest speakers that will deliver it.
