Golden Plains Shire Council has partnered with Leisure Networks to deliver the Community Club and Volunteer Training Program, a dedicated program to help build and strengthen capacity within local sporting and recreation clubs.

The program will support volunteers and representatives to develop their skills and make a positive difference in their clubs, through a series of online and in-person workshops.

The free workshops will be held monthly, from July to November, and will cover topics including financial management, recruitment and retention of volunteers, sponsorship, governance and innovation.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble says the program is an opportunity for volunteers and representatives to further support and grow their clubs now and into the future.

“The Community Club and Volunteer Training Program has been designed to support and develop the skills of the local sporting and recreation club volunteers and representatives. The program will enable club volunteers and representatives to make an even greater positive difference in their local clubs and, thereby, their communities.

“Council acknowledges and appreciates the valuable contribution of all local volunteers and club representatives. We are therefore delighted to be able to deliver the Community Club and Volunteer Training Program to all sporting and recreation clubs across Golden Plains with online and in-person workshops.

“The workshops will cover a broad range of topics essential to the successful operation and growth of local sporting and recreation clubs: from finance and sponsorship to innovation and governance. I encourage local clubs and volunteers to take advantage of this excellent free program and opportunity to develop their skills and make a positive difference in their club and with their community.”

The Community Club and Volunteer Training Program is open to all community members, participation is free and registration is required.
