The Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre Masterplan 2022-2032 (the Masterplan) was adopted by Golden Plains Shire Council at its meeting on Tuesday 23 August.
The Masterplan provides a guide for the future improvement and development of the Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre to meet increasing demand, address safety concerns, and provide enhanced opportunities and experiences for participants and spectators.
Developed following extensive consultation with representatives from the Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre Committee of Management and tenant clubs, Council staff, Equestrian Governing Bodies and the Golden Plains community, the Masterplan will inform strategic planning and the development of priorities for future infrastructure and programming opportunities at the facility.
The Masterplan provides clear and prioritised recommendations across six different categories: equestrian arenas; structures; parking; arena circulation; landscaping; and gates, access and other. With the identified improvements focused on increasing both the accessibility and usability of the Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre, the Masterplan is designed to support the facility to become a primary centre for equestrian in the region, with the ability to host large-scale, high-level events.
The Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre provides the local community with a range of opportunities for equestrian participation, including dressage, eventing, showjumping, pony club and adult riding clubs.
At its 23 August meeting, Council also noted the Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre Research Report, which provides extensive background research on the community need, benefit and sustainability of the Masterplan, alongside indicative costs and potential funding opportunities.
Engagement Update
To help shape the Masterplan, Council sought feedback from community members on how they currently utilise the facility, what barriers they may face in accessing it and how it can be enhanced in the future. Community members were invited to have their say by completing the Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre Masterplan survey from Thursday 14 April to Wednesday 11 May, 2022. Thank you to all of the community members who had their say during this period.
Council adopted the Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre Masterplan on Tuesday 23 August, 2022.
What Happens Next
Council’s new Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre Masterplan will inform strategic planning, development and delivery of infrastructure and programming opportunities at the facility over the next 10 years.
