Domestic Animal Management Plan

Council has adopted its Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025.

Following extensive community consultation, the Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025 was adopted at the 21 December Council Meeting.

About

The Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025 (the Draft Plan) has been prepared following extensive community engagement in August and September. Council thanks the 327 residents who completed the community survey and provided valuable information about animal management services of dogs and cats in Golden Plains Shire.

The Draft Plan outlines the key issues, objectives and management priorities of Council, as well as promotion of responsible pet ownership and the welfare of dogs and cats. It also proposes a number of solutions to protect the community and environment from pet-nuisances – in accordance with Victorian Government standards.

Under the Victorian Government’s Domestic Animals Act (1994), every Council in Victoria must prepare a domestic animal management plan every four years.
