Bannockburn Skate Park Reopens

The Bannockburn Skate Park has reopened for local skaters and bikers for the Christmas period.

The skate park had been closed since September for upgrade works as part of the Bannockburn Skate Park Upgrade Project. Major construction works to expand the stake park with new elements has been completed and the facility is safe and ready to open to users. These works included installing quarter pipes, ramps, boxes and rails.

Further works to install a shade shelter, drinking fountain, bins, bike racks, lockers, lighting, safety signage and seating, as well as pathways and landscaping works will be completed in January 2022. To enable these works, the skate park will be closed for short periods in January before fully reopening once the upgrade project has been completed.

To ensure user safety while the upgrade project continues, some temporary fencing remains on site and users must adhere to all signage.

The Bannockburn Skate Park Upgrade is a partnership project with funding from the Victorian and Australian Governments. The $449,900 project is funded by a $250,000 Community Safety Infrastructure grant from the Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program, and $199,900 from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

Once complete, the project will have rejuvenated and upgraded the popular community facility and addressed public safety and security issues at the site and wider precinct. The project incorporates a safe, accessible and modern design, that supports local economic activity and has involved input into the design from local youth.
