Get Online at the Digital Hub

Golden Plains Shire Council presents Get Online at the Digital Hub, a free community event.

Get Online at the Digital Hub is a free open day featuring digital workshops, hosted by Council to celebrate Get Online Week 2021. The event will be held at the new Digital Hub, 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale from 2 to 8pm, Thursday 21 October.

Get Online at the Digital Hub presents informative and entertaining drop-in sessions on popular topics including:

  • Learn to set up online meetings with friends and family (2pm, 4pm and 7pm)
  • Explore interesting apps and online services (2.30pm, 4.30pm and 7.30pm)
  • Zoom and Teams Big Fails (3pm and 5pm)
  • Shop safely online (3.30pm and 5.30pm)

Following light refreshments at 6pm, guest speaker George Fong will present at 6.30pm. Founder and Executive Director of information technology company, Lateral Plains, George will share insights into his involvement in the digital industry since 1994.

As part of Council’s strategy to assist residents to get connected, Get Online at the Digital Hub is supported by the Good Things Foundation, which manages the Australian Government funded Be Connected Network.

Held from 18 to 24 October, Get Online Week is an annual digital inclusion campaign organised by Good Things Foundation. There are 2.5 million people are offline in Australia and less than 40% of Aussies are confident that they can keep up with the rapid pace of tech changes, according to the Foundation. Get Online Week is about giving everyone the chance to find the support they need to improve their digital skills and get motivated to learn more.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, registration is required. To register, call 5220 7274.

The Golden Plains Community Bus will run a free service to Get Online at the Digital Hub for residents with limited transport options (by request).
