Breast Screen - Geelong Event

Golden Plains Shire Council's Active Ageing and Inclusion team and Health and Wellbeing team have partnered with Breast Screen Victoria to make it easier for our residents to access breast screen services.

This free event includes:

  • Transport to and from Geelong Breast Screen clinic (pick up and drop off point: Bannockburn Cultural Centre: 27 High St, Bannockburn)
  • Lunch at local cafe
  • A breast screen mammogram appointment
  • A social wellness activity while you wait

Benefits of breast screening:

  • Regular screening prevents deaths from breast cancer.
  • Breast screens can detect most cancers early – even before they can be felt or noticed.
  • If breast cancer is found early, it is more likely to be small, and successfully treated.
  • The earlier breast cancer is found, the better your chance of surviving it

To find out more, please calll Golden Plains Shire Council's Active Ageing and Inclusion team on 52207151.

Please note: Due to the high demand for services at the moment, the breast screening program is available to all eligible Victorians aged 50-74. Anyone aged 40-49 or 75+ who wants to screen for the first time or has not been recommended to have an annual breast screen by BreastScreen Victoria (or are high risk if 75+) will go on a waiting list. They will be invited to screen as soon as there are appointments available at their closest fixed site clinic. People in this age group should please remain breast aware. If you have any breast symptoms now, or notice any unusual changes in your breasts, please contact your GP as soon as possible. Breast cancer diagnoses affect more women in the 50-74 age group who are at a higher risk of developing the disease.
