Environment Strategy 2019 to 2027
The Public Exhibition period for the draft Environment Strategy has now closed. Council thanks those who provided feedback via a written submission. These submissions will contribute to the development of the Environment Strategy 2019-2027.
Council is committed to striving towards environmental sustainability by providing leadership and working together with our community. This commitment is reflected in both our Council Plan (2017-2021), which is underpinned by sustainability principles; and our existing Environment Strategy (2011-2016). The existing Strategy (2011-2016) has delivered a comprehensive program of initiatives, outlined in our recent Action Audit.
To build on these successes and plan for the future, Council is in the closing stages of developing a new Environment Strategy (2019-2027). The new Strategy will inform actions to improve environmental sustainability across all levels of Council, and identify ways to link the community with opportunities for education, action and advocacy.
The draft Environment Strategy has been on public exhibition seeking submissions from the community since the end of September.
The period for feedback has now closed and Council are reviewing submissions in order to finalise the Environment Strategy for release in early 2019.
Thank you to those members of the community who took the time to provide a written submission which will be considered in the development of the final strategy.
