Thank you to all the community members who shared their aspirations for High Street Bannockburn in 2017. The final masterplan has now been developed, based on the feedback from our community.

Council is undertaking a new project to enhance the town centre of Bannockburn, focusing on High Street, between McPhillips Road and Pope Street.  This project responds to community concerns about the current appearance of High Street and aims to create an attractive and inviting town centre. Council has engaged landscape architects Beveridge Williams to help us deliver this exciting project. Together with the architects, we have worked with the local community to ensure this project represents the aspirations of residents and achieves a pleasant, welcoming, and sustainable town centre for all who live, work, study, and recreate in Bannockburn. The final plans have now been completed, based on the feedback from our community.

Engagement Update

Engagement Update:

Initial engagement was done with the local Beautify Bannockburn community group in June 2017.  Bannockburn residents were then consulted at a Council Conversation Post at the Golden Plains Farmers’ Market in July 2017, with 60 community members providing verbal feedback, and 31 filling in surveys.  The top 5 community suggestions for the High Street include:

  1. Artwork and historical references
  2. Summer shade
  3. Seasonal display
  4. Seating areas
  5. Low maintenance planting

The community feedback from the Conversation Post was used by the landscape architects to develop a draft concept plan.  These plans were then presented to the Beautify Bannockburn and Bannockburn Community Planning groups for final feedback in September 2017.

The scope of works for stage 1 will be decided in August/September 2018, and will be shared with the community at that time. Stage 1 will commence in late 2018 at the eastern (Pope Street) end of High Street, and further beautification works will be implemented progressively over the next few years.
