Transport Connections
From a State wide perspective Victoria Transport Connections is an $18.3 million Victorian Government investment, spanning 32 projects across Victoria and is a Joint initiative of the Department of Planning & Community Development, Department Of Transport, Department of Human Services, Department of Education & Early Childhood Development.
Each project helps to deliver small-scale localised transport initiatives across the State. For example, extensions to existing services or the implementation of new trial services.
What does Transport Connections mean for Golden Plains Shire?
The Transport Connections Project in Golden Plains Shire is called the Golden Connections Project. The Golden Connections Project aims to address the transport needs of the Golden Plains Shire which is one of the most significant barriers to accessing services, employment, recreation and social networks.
Golden Connections Project Goals
- To work with local communities and other strategic partners to improve transport services across the Shire
- To make better use of available transport resources
- To increase community awareness and use of transport services
- To increase the range and frequency of public transport in Golden Plains Shire
- To increase participation in walking, cycling and related activities
- To improve paths and trails infrastructure network across Golden Plains Shire
- To improve provision and extend the catchment of community transport services in Golden Plains Shire and surrounding communities.

Ballarat to Geelong V/Line Coach Service
The coach service runs 7 days a week and stops at Ballarat Station, Sovereign Hill, Mount Helen, Buninyong, Warrenheip, Navigators, Yendon, Lal Lal, Clarendon, Elaine, Meredith, Lethbridge, Bannockburn, Gheringhap, Batesford, Bell park, Geelong Station and Geelong City.

Bendigo to Geelong V/Line Coach Service
The coach service runs 7 days a week and stops at Bendigo Station, Kangaroo Flat, Lockwood, Spring Creek, Maldon, Welshman's Reef, Newstead, Campbelltown, Smeaton, Allendale, Broomfield, Harcourt, Castlemaine Station, Guildford, Daylesford, Blampied, Newlyn, Creswick, Ballarat City, Ballarat Station, Sovereign Hill, Buninyong, Warrenheip, Navigators, Yendon, Lal Lal, Clarendon, Elaine, Meredith, Lethbridge, Bannockburn, Gheringhap, Batesford, Bell Park and Geelong Station.

Inverleigh to Geelong V/Line Coach Service
The coach service operates Fridays only, departing Inverleigh Hall at 9:30 a.m. and picks up anywhere along the Hamilton Highway to Fyansford. It then drops in Geelong in Malop Street at the V/Line Stop east of Moorabool Street.
The return journey is from in Malop Street at the V/Line Stop east of Moorabool Street at 2:15 pm.

The coach service runs 7 days a week and stops at Ballarat Station, Smythesdale, Scarsdale, Linton, Skipton, Streatham, Westmere, Lake Bolac, Wickliffe, Glenthompson, Dunkeld and Hamilton Station.

The coach service runs 2 days a week and stops at Rokewood Health Centre, Dereel Community Centre, Enfield Hotel, Enfield Community Hall, Napoleans Community Centre, Ross Creek Shop, Lydiard Street Train Station, Sturt Street and Stocklands Wendouree.

Bannockburn & District Taxis
This taxi service runs 7 days a week and services the towns of She Oaks, Steiglitz, Bamganie, Sutherlands Creek, Russells Bridge, Stone Haven, Gheringhap, Bannockburn, Teesdale, Shelford, Inverleigh and Meredith.
Bannockburn and District Taxis have one Taxi which can hold up to 4 passengers and one Maxi Taxi which can hold up to 12 passengers and is wheelchair accessible.

Can I travel concession in the Taxi?
Yes you can with the Taxi Directorate Multipurpose Taxi Program.
The Multipurpose Taxi Program provides a 50% discount on taxi fares (up to $60 per trip) for eligible people. The program aims to improve the accessibility of transport services for Victorians with a severe or permanent disability that significantly restricts their mobility and prevents them from independently accessing public transport. www.taxi.vic.gov.au
