Local Laws
Golden Plains Shire has two local laws which, as the name implies, are enforced throughout the municipality. Other municipalities have their own local laws.
Council's local laws cover a broad range of issues and activities including:
- Council meeting procedures
- Unsightly land
- Camping
- Keeping of domestic animals
- Burning of offensive materials
- Signs on road reserves
- Trees on road reserves
- Roadside trading
- Outdoor eating facilities
- Droving and grazing of livestock on roads

Domestic Animal Registration
Camping or Living in Sheds or Private Property
Unless there is a dwelling on your property, you cannot use private property for camping unless you have obtained a Temporary Residency permit. You will need to have a building permit, have made progress towards building your house, have appropriate sanitary facilities and other services before a permit will be considered. Permits are valid for a 6 month period.
