Local Laws

Golden Plains Shire has two local laws which, as the name implies, are enforced throughout the municipality. Other municipalities have their own local laws.

Council's local laws cover a broad range of issues and activities including:

- Council meeting procedures

- Unsightly land

- Camping

- Keeping of domestic animals

- Burning of offensive materials

- Signs on road reserves

- Trees on road reserves

- Roadside trading

- Outdoor eating facilities

- Droving and grazing of livestock on roads

Camping or Living in Sheds or Private Property

Unless there is a dwelling on your property, you cannot use private property for camping unless you have obtained a Temporary Residency permit. You will need to have a building permit, have made progress towards building your house, have appropriate sanitary facilities and other services before a permit will be considered.
