Volunteering
Volunteers are vital to community wellbeing. Golden Plains Shire Council values volunteers who make such a difference to our community.
There is a variety of volunteering opportunities in many organisations listed in our 2007-2008 Community Guide (contact Customer Service for your complimentary copy).
Volunteer Driving
Council has vacancies for volunteer drivers in the Golden Connections Community Transport program. Volunteer driving is fun and very rewarding and can be a great opportunity to meet new people and help your local community. Even being able to assist two days a month is enough to really make a difference and be appreciated by people in your area. Drivers are required to have a satisfactory police check and working with children check. Full training and ongoing support is provided.
An information pack is available upon request by contacting the Community Transport Coordinator on 5220 7144.
Planned Activity Groups
The Planned Activity Groups for older people often require the assistance of volunteers. Training and support is provided and applicants will be required to have a satisfactory police check.
For further information, contact the Aged & Disability Administration Officer on 5220 7151.
