Art in the Golden Plains Shire
Golden Plains Shire supports our regional artists and their creative endeavours.
The Golden Plains Shire has cemented it's commitment to the Arts by appointing an Arts and Culture Officer. Golden Plains is home to many artists utilising a wide spectrum of mediums to create engaging works.
In 2009 Golden Plains Shire will support the following artists and projects, highlighting the vital importance the arts have in the Golden Plains Shire.
Held on the weekend of the 24th & 25th October, The Golden Plains Arts Trail will be exhibiting the works of over 50 artists in over 20 locations across the Golden Plains. For more information and to receive you full colour map and brochure click here.
Bannockburn Art Stop
Young people are currently working with local artist Ade Loe on transforming the bus stop on High Street, Bannockburn into an underwater wonderland.
Badge Landscape
Local Artist Lyn Dickson with assistance from the Golden Plains Community Grants is undertaking a community arts project throughout the shire. Different community groups will create small artworks which will be then pressed into a pin badge. The theme of the project is "Living in the Golden Plains". It is hoped that the project will increase participation in community arts projects in the shire in an accessible and 'miniature' format.
Lyn will then create a large scale installation of the badges that will be exhibited throughout the Shire. Please contact the Arts Officer if your community group would like to be a part of this project by receiving a pin badge kit or a workshop by the artist.
Teesdale Turtle Bend Project
Golden Plains' newest outdoor performance space and community venue has recently been completed and was officially opened on September 25th.
For further information on any of the projects or for any related enquiries please contact the Arts & Culture Officer Tegan Lang.
