Work Experience
Golden Plains Shire Council supports work experience programs and recognises the benefits of giving students an insight into the work environment. Students are provided with a valuable opportunity to develop job skills in a supportive setting.

Who can apply for work experience?
Work experience / work placements are available to secondary, TAFE and tertiary students.
What is the length of a placement?
The maximum period is two weeks for secondary students. TAFE and tertiary student placements may be longer where the placement is part of the course requirements or Council is providing students with industry experience (for example engineering students).
How do I apply for work experience?
Year 12 students are requested to arrange their work experience through their school Career Advisor or Work Experience Co-ordinator, while tertiary students may send a request directly.

Do I get paid for the work experience?
Secondary school students will be paid $5 a day, under the Victorian Work Experience Arrangement. The arrangements for tertiary students vary and will be discussed at the time a placement is offered.
