Children and Families
Golden Plains Shire Council and its community provide a wide range of services to support parents and carers who are raising children. We believe that all children should have the opportunity to develop to their full potential and strive to create a place where children are encouraged to play, grow and learn in safe, sustainable and supportive communities.
A range of a range of activities and services are available to families in the Shire. These services reflect the diversity of children's interests, abilities and needs, and supports parental involvement in play, learning and care.
While Council operates some activities and services, others are provided in partnership with, or solely by, state and federal governments, community organisations and private businesses.

Municipal Early Years Plan
The goal of Council's Municipal Early Years Plan is to provide a strategic direction for the development and coordination of early childhood education, care and health programs and activities that impact on children from birth to age 10 in Golden Plains Shire for on the period 2009 - 2012.
The Municipal Early Years plan indicates that the development of a strong early childhood education, care and health system is important because it:
- contributes to the development of healthy communities;
- saves money;
- builds resilience;
- attracts families to the Shire.
Council wishes to convey its thanks to community members, early childhood experts, council officers, the consultant and partner organisations for their participation and cooperation in the development of this important plan.
