Registered Food Premises
A food premises registration is required for food sold or served at community events such as festivals, markets, single temporary stalls, fetes or sausage sizzles. This also includes promotional sampling activities such as giveaways at exhibitions and on public streets.
All food premises need to be registered regardless of whether they are profitable, non-profitable or charity organisations.
Registration enables your local environmental health officer to assess the food premises and provide information to you about safe food handling and preparation practices to ensure your premises complies with the Food Act 1984.
Some food premises registrations will require a food safety program and a food safety supervisor.
This page is currently being revised and updated with the latest changes to the Food Act 1984.
For more information on food premises registration, renewals or for a temporary food registration, please contact the Environmental Health Team on 03 5220 7111 or Local Call 1300 36 30 36.
Please note: permits may also be required from the Planning and Building Departments.
