 Cr Jenny Blake has been a Councillor with Golden Plains Shire since 1996 and is the 2012‑13 Mayor.  Cr Blake served previous terms as Mayor in 2008‑09 and 2009‑10.

 As Mayor, Cr Blake is an active member of all Council advisory committees:

• Timber Towns Victoria Executive Committee (1996) and is the current Vice Chairperson

 Jenny is proud to be the Chairperson for the Rural Community Women’s Network Inc. (formerly the Golden Plains Women in Drought Committee) that is successfully striving to ensure that the effects of the drought and global financial crisis for residents of the Golden Plains Shire are recognised, and that the social needs of those affected, especially children, are addressed.

  Cr Blake was a self‑funded participant and presenter at the:

• World Women’s Agricultural Congress in Spain (2002)
• Landcare Conference in Darwin (2003)

 

Cr Blake is an active member of her local community.  From 1986 to 1995 Cr Blake was Treasurer of the Leigh Community Care Centre.  In 1993, Cr Blake won the Primary Producer Landcare Award (Victorian Section).  She has been active within Landcare since 1989 and was involved with the CSIRO ‘Indicators of Catchment Health’ Project.  This year she also chaired the Golden Plains Disability Family Fun Day committee.

 

Cr Blake is a director of a sheep, wool and crop farming enterprise.  She has wide employment experience particularly in the health care industry with qualifications that now see her delivering the Supporting Vulnerable Victorians in Accommodation Initiative’ in the Barwon region and the ‘Independent Lives Project’ in the Geelong region.
