Garibaldi Community Coordinators set to Launch Community Plan

The Garibaldi Community Plan (the Plan) will be launched at the Garibaldi Community Celebration on Sunday 5 May.

Garibaldi Community Coordinators, guided by Non Profit Training (NPT), have been instrumental in shaping the newly finalised Garibaldi Community Plan 2024 to 2027. Through a series of surveys, interviews and public meetings, Coordinators actively engaged with local residents to gather their valuable insights and preferences.

The priority projects outlined in the plan include expanding community activities such as arts and crafts sessions and children’s activities, as well as enhancing facilities such as public toilets, noticeboards, seating and playground upgrades.

Golden Plains Shire Council’s Community Planning program gives Community Coordinators a framework to identify and prioritise projects for their local community and include these projects in a four-year plan.

In additional to Garibaldi, Cape Clear, Illabarook and Rokewood Junction have recently launched their Community Plan. Community Coordinators in Linton, Meredith and Bannockburn are in the process of drafting their plans after conducting extensive engagement with respective communities.  These towns will finalise their plans in the coming months, and then organise launch events.

All towns in the recent round received up to $10,000 in Council's Community Planning Seed funding. This funding is specifically allocated for the Community Planning Program and serves to support the delivery of projects outlined in the plans and can also be used to source additional funding through the Victorian State Government and Federal Government, philanthropic organisations or provide funds to undertake further fundraising opportunities.

Council is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from residents in other towns in the Shire who are interested in participating in the Community Planning program.
